The Angle: A Geometric Pleasure in Video Game Service Center Design

Creating a Comfortable and Promising Atmosphere

Simple lines always imply infinite inspiration for design. Within the ever-changing textures, designers keep carrying out their creativity with more innovative skills. Ming Jr Li, the mastermind behind The Angle, a video game service center interior design, uses simple geometric lines along with composite material parts to create a comfortable and promising atmosphere.

When walking into The Angle, the highlight is the hexagon pendant lights. Suspended by invisible hanging wire, these hexagon pendant lights look like floating nimbuses in the air. In addition to highlighting the geometric beauty of the room, they also correspond to the irregular quadrilaterals of the countertop. To feature a modern customer service center, Ming Jr Li adopts slimline desks and tree desks instead of traditional office furniture.

The beveled edge wood collage floor makes the office feel more spacious. Both side walls are decorated with wood panels. One wall is designed with a wood texture, while the other is painted in white. Both walls correspond to each other and lend a pleasing air to the space.

The main office area of The Angle adopts an open concept space. Except for the conference room and supervisor room, it is a cubicle-free workplace. This design choice encourages interaction and collaboration among employees.

To highlight the professional competencies and friendly atmosphere, the high ceiling design, along with the dusk yellow and warm gray tones intertwined with wood colors, imparts a vibe of welcoming and promising sensation. The large glass curtain not only draws in natural light but also allows people to capture the perfect view of the magnificent Mt. Dadu and Taichung city. As the sun moves, people can have fun watching the changing light and shadow in the room.

The Angle project started in May 2017 and was finished in March 2018 in Taiwan. Ming Jr Li's underlying research for this design included adopting the island hopping concept in the slimline desk arrangement to create a sense of groove. The tree desks are arranged in the shape of a Y, encouraging interaction among employees while still providing privacy. The design also incorporates hidden cords to avoid disrupting the interior beauty.

The purpose of The Angle's service center is to deal with customers' feelings. Thus, helping customer service executives develop peace of mind was the primary concern of the interior design. By making use of texture and the features of the furniture, Ming Jr Li constructs a geometric pleasure in the space. The open plan also creates an infinity of office space, transforming a normal workplace into a wonderful place for people to interact and enhance relationships.

The Angle's video game service center design uses simple geometric lines along with composite material parts to create a comfortable and promising atmosphere. The luminous imitation marble countertop is made of formability paint, which goes well with black steel. When walking into the office, the highlight is the hexagon pendant lights, suspended by invisible hanging wire, creating the illusion of floating nimbuses in the air.

The Angle's exceptional design has been recognized and awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2020. This prestigious award is bestowed upon outstanding and creatively ingenious designs that authenticate experience and resourcefulness. The Angle's design exhibits strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
